A Kingsmill homeowner has filed suit against Busch Properties Inc. to wrest control of the homeowner association.
Don Tortorice, a William & Mary law instructor who lit up the compound last month over control, seeks to free up the fifth of nine seats on Kingsmill Community Services Association board. He wants it filled by a homeowner who’s unaffiliated with management.

The  LPGA‘s Michelob Ultra Open,  will be held May 4-10 at Kingsmill on the James in Williamsburg, VA.

The event which was the top LPGA event of the 2008 season, was won last year by Annika Sorenstam. This year’s edition offers more than  $2,200,000.00 million in prize money and a winner’s check of $330,000. With one of the highest purses of all tournaments on the LPGA Tour it always attracts a very competitive field.

The Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill is an annual golf tournament, originating in 2003, for professional female golfers which takes place every May on the LPGA Tour. The final round is traditionally played on Mother’s Day

It is a 4-day, 72-hole tournament is played on the 6,306 yard River Course at Kingsmill.

Both Golf World and Travel + Leisure GOLF magazine awarded Kingsmill Resort & Spa top honors for having some of the best golf courses and golfing opportunities in the country.  This recognition comes just days after GOLF Magazine honored Kingsmill as one of the country’s top 25 golf schools.  Golf World’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards placed Kingsmill among the top 10 Resort Courses in the country.  The recognition was based on criteria ranging from the quality of the courses to the accommodations and practice facilities.  “We’re honored by the survey results, and we think it proves Kingsmill is a golfer’s paradise,” said Wayne Nooe, vice president of golf operations at the resort.

The three Golf courses in Kingsmill are: the River Course, the Plantation Course and the Woods course. The 6,853-yard, par-71 Pete Dye-designed River Course hosts the Michelob Championship at Kingsmill. The terrain flaunts hills, elevated greens, thick woods and water all around.

Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay’s 6,543-yard Plantation layout is more wide open  and less demanding of pinpoint accuracy than its sibling. It has water coming into play on eight holes. It is marked by historical landmarks from a 1736 plantation.

Curtis Strange, the Kingsmill Touring PGA Pro, designed the Woods Course, Kingsmill’s newest addition. It has been honored by Golf Magazine as a “Top Ten New Course You Can Play. “Its deep ravines, fairway bunkers and elevated greens offer a challenge.
